Getting The Word Out?
Michael D Barrett
Do you operate a home based business? Do you have an email list you’ve been building? If not, you really should think about creating and developing one. An email list can do several things for businesses. For one thing, it can keep your clients and customers informed about the happenings of your business. Maybe you’ve got a sale coming up in a few months and want your customers to know about it. An email list would be an organized way to quickly send emails to everyone interested in your business. When you do decide to start your email list for your business, consider using these simple tips.
Incentives Can Get Email Addresses Fast
It seems that people are much more willing to hand over their email addresses when there is an incentive involved. If you offer an incentive for people signing up for your email, you will likely get more people to sign on. Everyone loves to get something for free, or to get a chance to win a nice prize. If you have written articles or have composed an E-Book or have an information CD or DVD that describes your products and services, you can offer them for free if a person signs on to your newsletter. Of course, you don’t have to give away something expensive like a car. You can offer a simple article on the secrets of your business, or something completely cost-free and people will still get excited. Anything you can give away for free will help you pull in email addresses. Bring Your Friends Along. It’s about creating a community of like-minded individuals who share a common interest in your products, services or business opportunity.
You may want to offer something to those who refer others to your email list as well. You can explain in a newsletter that if they will forward your newsletter to someone they know, you will allow them to be entered into a prize winning contest. If you use an email marketing service to maintain your newsletters, such as aweber.com, you should easily be able to see who forwards the letter and who doesn’t. When the friends receive the forwarded newsletter, they too might become interested in getting your newsletter and your list will grow instantly.
Teaming Up Or Creating A Joint Venture Is A Good Idea
There are many businesses that are correlated to your business, but that would not be considered a competitor of yours. If you can contact one of these businesses that are somehow related to yours, you can work together on email marketing. You can use each others customer lists to reach more people, without seeming pushy about it. Most recently Ellie & Charlie Drake of Brave Heart Productions teemed up with one of the leading experts on internet marketing: Mike Filsaime and are now offering dynamic tips on how to develop a strategic internet marketing plan for Network Marketers and other entrepreneurs who are looking to become more internet savvy. This is a classic example of doing a joint venture. Ellie Drake is an internationally renowned life, business coach and speaker, combined with her husband Charlie, who oversees operations and the implementation and integration of services provided by braveheartproductions.com and braveheartwomen.com/, makes for a dynamic team as they join forces with MikeFilsaime.com/. You can work this in several ways. One way is to feature your partner’s business in your newsletter and ask them to do the same thing for your business. Or, you can ask your readers to join the list of the other business. If you want to be subtle about it, simply put a link to their website in each of your newsletters and allow your readers to do the searching.
Remember, if you are running a home based business, it is essential that you find a way to reach your potential clients. Creating an email list is a great way to reach potential customers or a fine way to get repeat business from those who’ve already purchased a product or service from you.

Article Subission
Dustin Cannon
Articles are becoming a mainstream way of advertising for websites. Business owners have discovered that submitting articles to article directories has many benefits for their business. Writing a good, solid article and submitting it to an article directory offers much more than the typical advertising campaign. Submitting articles to article directories allow a business owner to promote their business without seeming overly pushy or having to outright sell to customers. A good article is written to provide information not to be promotional. Submitting a good article will help build the business owners credibility in their area of business. It will also help them to become established as an expert in their field. Article directories supply articles to a variety of web site owners and an article submitted could be used by many different website owners providing the business with many marketing outlets. Article directories allow writers to include their name, business name and information. This allows anyone who reads the article to quickly access their website. Articles are a great form of free advertising that take a small effort to set up and distribute.

Setting Attainable Goals VS Obsession With Making Money?
Michael D Barrett
Did you know that there is too much of a good thing? Did you know that your home based business may become an obsession? While you may laugh at the latter, consider the fact that there are those who put in three times as many hours into their home based business than they did when they were working at corporate. Since many a would-be entrepreneur cites the wish to spend more time with friends and family, this appears to be oxymoronic, or does it? If that is you, are you working smart or just working hard getting ready to get ready and ultimately avoiding the changes that need to occur in your life to actually realize your goals and make it happen by taking decisive action? Have you written down your goals, developed a business plan or are you winging it?
Put Your Attainable Goals In Writing To Avoid Obsession and Attract Success
You might be wondering if goal setting really works. Let’s look at a study conducted with the Yale Graduating Class of 1953. They surveyed all students asking them if they had written goals for their life:
• 3% had put their goals in writing
• 97% had not written them down or had none at all!
Twenty years later, these same people were re-interviewed.
• The 3% who had written goals had 10 times the incomes than the other 97% combined!
There is NO DOUBT about it – Goal Setting Works! A goal is merely a dream until it is written down. I have watched friends get themselves into serious financial trouble simply because they did not put their goals for their business in writing and did not develop a business plan. In executing your business you must define short term attainable goals that truly inspire you, something that will push you to do whatever it takes to accomplish them. Goals keep you focused help you create your vision and will give you peace of mind as our unconscious mind is passive and will do whatever we consciously choose to do. If left on the default mode, our unconscious mind will simply repeat the life long patters and sometimes bat habits that we have taught it. Dream Big but at one and the same time, set and execute these short term goals that will aid you in realizing your long term goals dreams and aspirations. It is always good to be reminded that we are the only thing that stands between us and achievable success .Setting goals and jotting down daily victories and accomplishments will help to alleviate obsession with your home based business. Clarity and purpose in our life will truly be enhanced by disciplining ourselves in taking a few minutes every day to reflect and journal our accomplishments and writing them down. Most of us are visual and can benefit if we see our results in writing. In your reflective moments, you may come to realize, that there are unconscious blocks, distractions and limiting thinking patters that if left to themselves and not confronted and handled, could be a contributing factor in diminishing your desired results and could lead to discouragement. But we all know that for you: FAILURE IS NOT AN OPTION.
Here are the top five signs that your home based business has become an obsession:
1. You spend more time working for your home based business than you did working at your corporate job. Remember that this does not apply to the initial start up, a phase that may cover a time period of three weeks to three months. Instead, it refers to the day to day operations of an up and running home based business.
2. None of the long and short term personal goals you set when starting your home based business are being accomplished after a period of six months. If your children still have to go to daycare, or you and your spouse are still dining on frozen dinners instead of the home cooked meals you envisioned, then the odds are good that you simply exchanged one job for another may have neglected to reflect on your short term and long term goals to track your daily and weekly success..
3. Your home based business may be an obsession if it enters every conversation you have. This is especially true if your business is multi level marketing or affiliate marketing. If you find that every conversation you have somehow leads to the business, then it has transcended its function from being a means to an end to being the end itself. When short and long term goals are clearly defined, we become a lot less anxious knowing that we have taken the time to articulate them. By doing so, the need to obsess and worry about our business will diminish or will be eliminated entirely as we are more self assured and confident.
4. You are tempted to, or may already have, engage in increasingly financially risky schemes and deals in order to finance the business and help it to grow and get to the next level. If you are thinking of mortgaging your home to finance your business expansion or if you are maxing out your credit cards to fund a major ad campaign, you know you are going too far. However, utilizing a credit card or line of credit can be seen as good credit if not used in excess and is not putting you or your family at risk. Financial prudence is always recommended.
5. Even if one particular home based business or business opportunity is not taken to excess, the investment in any number of them at the same time or concurrently, or the constant involvement in the latest multi level marketing fads and Internet get rich quick schemes is a warning sign that you are not being a business persona but instead obsessed with making money on or offline.
Please remember that there is nothing intrinsically wrong with wanting to succeed with your home based business. However, if you are taking the chasing of your success too far, or if you find that none of the goals you have set for yourself have materialized after six months but instead you find that more and more you are compromising your priorities, then you may wish to consider either a different home based business, new goal setting strategy, or a return to the corporate world to keep your commitments to your family. The choice to succeed is yours. The buck stops here: make it so number one!

Design And Conquer!
By Michael D Barrett
If you work a typical 9 to 5 job, you may find yourself getting sluggish through the week. Waiting for the weekend to come seems to take forever, and you can’t stand being at work one second longer each day than you absolutely have to. Lacking passion, you slide into your desk right at 9 am and slide out the moment the clock strikes 5. You find yourself taking the long way around the office to the copier or develop an extensive reading list to enhance your lavatory experience so that you will waste more time, or begin to take frequent bathroom breaks just to be out of your seat. It may be time to consider turning in your two weeks notice and branching out into your own home based business that will exploit and take advantage of your talent and skill set and enable you to accomplish a new level of excellence in your life. Now you must decide what type of business that you will work on to maintain your bills.
Starting and developing an excellent business can be difficult and will require a certain passion that will poise you for success. To do so, you will need to think about the type of business that you would like to engage in and would enjoy working on daily. Many times people start a business that they believe that they will enjoy only to find that within a year, they are burnt out on that type of business and want to focus on other aspects. It will take a considerable amount of time, money and a strategic marketing plan to start and sustain your business, so you must consider a variety of home based business ideas that will coincide and peak your interest. For this perseverance is necessary. One of the most important decisions is to decide whether you want to work on something that you enjoy or something that you are skilled at.
Having a business that consists of something that you are skilled at can keep you busy with work and will feed your passion, especially if it is something that you can perform quickly and accurately. If typing is something that you do well, and your grammar is exceptional, you may want to consider jobs that have you type or do medical transcriptions. If you have experience in medical billing you may want to consider developing or seeking employment with a company that specializes in that. The possibilities are endless. These may not be exciting types of businesses but you will find that the work is plentiful. You may find that having a company that revolves around your natural talents and abilities can keep you enticed with your job for years to come. An important decision that you will need to make is do you want a job at home, or do you want to have your own business. Many people enjoy working for themselves in a variety of network marketing companies. Donald Trump has stated that if her were just getting started today, he would get involved in a network marketing company to build his initial fortune and then move into the arena of investing in real estate. Unlike expensive franchises that can cost you hundreds-of-thousands or even millions of dollars, most MLM companies are very affordable to buy into. In network marketing or a direct sales company, the products and services have already been created and developed and are distributed by individuals who can work form the comfort of their home. As great a company as Amway is, we are not necessarily suggesting that you get involved in a company that requires you to warehouse tons of products in your garage. Today, most companies drop ship their product. As a distributor or consultant, you are more engaged in the selling or simply exposing people to the products or services as you build your success team. Many companies provide you with an on line web site or back office to track all your sales, leads and automatically generate messages that are emailed out to prospects you have opted into your web site. We will elaborate on this form of marketing at another time or you can check out postings on this blog that focus on marketing strategies. In the case of the MLM or network marketing scenario you are in business for yourself but not by yourself. In most instances, you will be working and developing your business with a team. It has been my experience that people who engage in multi level marketing or MLM programs become better persons because they work together to ensure mutual success. In most MLM companies you will be introduced to some of the best coaching in business and personal development. It is a different animal to work for yourself as opposed to working for someone else. As for me, I am psychologically unemployable. I need to be the boss. Working for someone else at home or working for a company requires less creativity on your part. If you are artistic, you may want to consider selling your artwork or designing signage for other companies. You may be skilled in carpentry and sell hand-made furniture or restore antiques. The possibilities are endless when you consider what you are interested in and how to turn those passions into money making ideas. If you are interested in animals or children, you may want to consider starting a business that allows you to work directly with them. No matter what you choose to sink your teeth into, always bear in mind that this is a business not a hobby. If you treat it as a business you will take it much more seriously. To be successful, you will be required to exercise certain disciplines and invest financially and develop a strategic marketing plan be it on line or off line. As the saying goes: you don’t get nothing for nothing.’ To succeed you need to take decisive action.
Starting a business that you can passionately enjoy can help you to stay interested for the rest of your life. Venturing into new areas of your passions can often turn out well for you and give you a little bit of freedom from the mundane life that you have been living in the 9 to 5 world. Good luck getting started in your new career as you design and conquer. Who has a better right?

Cheerleaders R Us!
How to Achieve Proficiency in Developing Your Home Based Business Opportunity Skill Set?
By Michael D Barrett
It is common knowledge that you need to work at home based business opportunity success the same way that you need to work hard to achieve success – both personal and financial – from the average nine to five job. Unfortunately, if you do not take the necessary steps to set the stage to succeed, it can sometimes get lost in the whirlwind of enthusiasm as the skill sets required to realize the success from the home business and the day job are entirely different. Some might even say that in some cases the skills required are diametrically opposed from one another. To help you work at home based business opportunity success while at the same time give you an insight into the skills that are required to prevent failure, here is a quick list of the four most important proficiencies.
1. You must be a self starter and take the lead. When you work at a home based business opportunity, you are in charge and developing your sill sets and implementing them is the key to your success. You cannot rely on anyone else to tell you to get started, to get to work, to set and meet a deadline, to work through your lunch to accomplish a number of tasks before the end of the day, to work overtime after the kids are in bed to get more done, or to cancel your day off because you need to get a vital aspect of the work done. At a regular job, you will be told by a supervisor when extra hours are available for work, when vacation requests will not be granted, and when a special project requires an “all hands on deck” approach which the company rewards with a catered buffet for everyone who commits to come in on their days off. Not to worry! You are in charge of establishing your days off and when and where to vacation. In making a decision to start your own business, your have made a lifestyle decision to realize your dreams in achieving financial independence. www.excellent-home-business.com
2. You should not be a team player in the strict sense of the word, but more of a team leader. In a startling reversal of the tired adage that requires everyone in a corporation to be a team member and look out for the good of the company or the department, as a person who is busy with work at a home based business opportunity, your skill sets, if properly exploited and implemented, define you as number one. In some home based business opportunities, such as direct sales, multi level marketing or mlm, you may be encouraged to develop and build a success team with members of your respective organization or company, but it all starts with you taking the initiative. This means you are responsible for everything and Your Way is The Way. The odds are good that nobody will look out for your benefit, and you will need to be mindful of it yourself. In many home based business opportunities, one of the keys to our success is realizing that you are in business for yourself but not by yourself. Great customer service and team support is up to you to deliver, hard lined collection of funds is your department, and dealing efficiently with customer complaints and generating goodwill in the community for your business is your job.
3. Recognize personal shortfalls and correct them immediately. When evaluating and assessing your skill sets you may find that you are not as organized as you should be, you will need to burn the midnight oil and take an online class or course if necessary, to find a way to become more organized or internet savvy and then implement it. If you take your success seriously, you will need to invest in your education. Ascertaining and implementing a marketing strategy is one of the most important components that will contribute to your success. ‘You Are a Marketer.’ www.3migroupblog.com You need to constantly remind yourself, especially when you are in the start up mode, that your home based business is not a hobby but a business and needs to be treated as such. At a regular job this might translate into a seminar your boss may pay for and send you to, and then will most likely end up in your taking some of the suggestions and adapting them to your work environment. In your home business it means adapting your way of doing business to a correct way of being organized and to educate yourself by attending conferences and live educational events, online seminars and webinars to ensure your ongoing success.
Last but not least, work smart not hard. if you want to be among the 5% of those who succeed, and not the 95% of those who fail, one of the most overlooked skills when you work at home based business opportunity success is your unwavering commitment to success. Throughout the day, and especially in challenging moments, you must constantly utter the affirmation that failure is not an option. This means that you can look past failure, rejection, and mistakes and instead keep trotting forward, always looking toward the ultimate success – even though there will nobody there to cheer you on. You are the ‘Cheer Leader’ as you are at the helm always bearing in mind that among the top priorities, defined by an acquired skill set, requires that you believe in yourself and need to eliminate limiting beliefs and unconscious patterns that can block and sabotage your success. Another helpful affirmation to remember is that success is a choice. At a job, you will have a boss who will encourage you, a concerned coworker who might write you a nice card and put it on your desk, or a friend who will call to encourage you. Not when you are on your own. As the end of everyday, give yourself a hug and remember that the Buck Starts Here. You need to be your own best friend.

If Timing is Everything: Then It’s Your Time!
by Michael D Barrett
Starting your home based business is an exciting time for anyone who takes on that venture. It takes a lot of planning and decision making on your part and anyone that may be in business with you. Once you have gotten the basics for your business down, you may think that it will be a smooth ride from here. That may not necessarily be true if you do not develop a strategy that includes an essential time management component! You will need to think about the future of your business before you start to relax and take things easy. Time can be your friend or your worst enemy, depending on how you organize it! When you begin to explore the different possibilities, it is a lot like find the right pair of shoes. There must be a fit between your personality, skill set and an overall synergy. IF you select a home based business that involves direct sales and developing a team, then you will want to be aware from the outset that you are going to attract people to yourself based on your personality. You have often heard the expression, ‘like attracts like.’ This is the age old law of attraction which is the focal point of The Secret.
From a time management perspective, it is a good idea to divide your daily schedule into time frames where you focus on individual tasks. Some obstacles are unavoidable, but others you can avoid with a little bit of planning ahead. If you have responsibilities that you must be present for outside of your home, plan your driving time accordingly. You do not want to be late due to a time crunch or rush hour traffic. Being late can convey to a potential client that meeting with them is not high on your priority list. To be successful in your business, you must be disciplined and employ the dynamics and principles that will enable you to see time management as a kind of friend who only has your best interest at heart. Many people are afraid of commitment and this is why they do not succeed in their business. If you are like me, failure is not an option.
Make a list of daily activities and tasks that must be completed, including times that they need to be completed by or the amount of time that you expect them to take to complete for each one. Without a specific time management plan, it can be difficult to accomplish a task accurately if you have to start and stop working on it several times a day due to other projects that must be completed. Itemize tasks from most important to least important so that you will complete the ones that need to be done first, while working on those that are not as important second.
If you are an individual that gets easily distracted by other things that are going on, try to avoid those things. If you need to focus all of your time and attention to your computer, do not turn on the television with the notion that you will complete your work. If you tend to get hungry frequently, keep a snack in your desk to munch on so that you do not need to get up several times during the day to grab something to snack on. If outside noises distract you, it may help to play light classical music in the background, so that you may focus on your business. It is important to have designated work space or at least your own desk or office where you can work effectively, efficiently to conduct your business affaires in an orderly manner.
To optimize your time management, it may also be helpful to set aside break times. Try to keep the same break times each day, as well as the same start and finish times. This will help you stay focused on your work during work hours, as you know that after 3pm you will be able to do other things that you need to accomplish for your home or family. Having a home based business can make your life easier, but only if you are able to maintain a healthy work environment that helps you to focus on the tasks at you need to complete in a timely manner.
